UNIVERSE AWARENESS
is a cornerstone project of the International Year of Astronomy 2009

Support Universe Awareness

UNAWE began as an idea in 2005. The feasibility of the concept has since been proven through pilot projects in a number of countries which are now permanently in place. These provide training and support for educators, and workshops and events for children. UNAWE is present and growing in Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Germany, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, and Venezuela.

UNAWE is seeking corporate, institutional and individual support for national projects and the localisation and production of our international materials. We are working towards full implementation of the programme in 2009, the International Year of Astronomy as proclaimed by the International Astronomical Union and UNESCO.

With your help we can

  • train educators
  • deliver entertaining activities, games, toys, software and posters contained in our Universe in a Box
  • produce exciting animation adventure films using images from deep space
  • provide logistics support for international internet exchanges
